Smith County District Attorney Chief Investigator Clint Benson was honored during Commissioners Court on Tuesday for 25 years of service to the county.
Benson investigated child abuse cases and was a supervisor for the Smith County Sheriff’s Office before going to work for the DA’s Office when District Attorney Jacob Putman took office in 2018.
“He is the rare combination you see in somebody that you know you’ve just got to hire them,” Putman said. “He’s both intelligent and wise; he’s kind but he’s also firm; he’s loyal but he’s also just; and I can’t think of anybody better to lead our team of investigators and be the chief of our law enforcement agency than Clint Benson.”
Putman said he is grateful for his 25 years of service to Smith County.
“Thank you very much,” Benson said. “I really enjoy my time here. It’s a pleasure to work for Smith County and I appreciate the mission of the DA’s Office that I can be a part of.”
Other county employees celebrating work anniversaries in June who were not in court include:

15 Years: Starla Johnson, Sheriff’s Office.
