LONGVIEW, TX – Longview Economic Development Corporation (LEDCO) is thrilled to announce that Mint Innovation, a biomining company headquartered in New Zealand, is exploring a prospective site for a biorefinery in Longview. The LEDCO Board of Directors voted today to approve a performance contract with Mint as they look to confirm a site on East Loop 281. The project is slated to make a capital investment of over $15 million with the creation of 28 direct jobs within 3 years.

Mint Innovation is the worldโ€™s first company to use natural biomass and smart chemistry to extract green metals such as gold and copper from waste commercially, therefore accelerating circular supply and aiding in reducing carbon emissions associated with e-waste. Mintโ€™s city-scale processing facilities create the opportunity to more efficiently deploy the low-carbon technology directly where waste is collected, meaning that Longview and the surrounding region would see direct positive impacts in terms of reduced e-waste to landfill and access to renewed precious metal commodities.

โ€œSince our founding in 2016, weโ€™ve been looking at opportunities abroad and are excited to be looking at bringing our technology to Longview, Texas. Weโ€™re proud to have the support of LEDCO to help create a more sustainable future for the Longview community by reducing e-waste and reintroducing critical metals into the local economy.โ€ Will Barker, CEO and Co-Founder of Mint Innovation.

โ€œIt is exciting to see progress being made to achieve a circular economy especially in a region that has been historically hyper-focused on manufacturing and distribution. There is always room for improvement in our production, distribution and disposal of goods and materials so we couldnโ€™t be more elated to welcome Mint Innovation and their circular supply technology to Longview.โ€ Wayne Mansfield, LEDCO CEO/President.
