Giving God Your Business

Sunday Inspiration: Giving God your business

By Glenn Miller

GOD’S WORD: “The earth is the Lord’s and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.” – Psalm 24:1

The glow from the electric clock in the bedroom said 2:13 a.m. this past Saturday morning. The one day I could sleep in late and all I could do was toss and turn restlessly. It was as if something (or someone!) was keeping me from going back to sleep. Usually, I’ve discovered that when this happens, it’s often the Holy Spirit beckoning me to arise and listen to something God wants to tell me.

So, I removed myself quietly away from my slumbering spouse and make my way to my recliner in the den. I sat there quietly and begin to pray to God to show me how he would like me to steward my resources. It was also about the same time that He drew me into opening Robert Morris’ new book BEYOND BLESSED, where I read the words:

“You are the Chief Financial Officer of You, Inc.; a wholly owned subsidiary within God’s universal holding company called The Kingdom”

I recognized that my previous prayers were that God show me ways to be a good steward of the resources I obtained as fruits of my business labors. But God told me that not only did the revenue from those endeavors belong to him, but my business did as well! God isn’t a resource but the SOURCE!

God is actually the Regional Sales Manager of my company; I am just a steward for him.

God is the ultimate planner and strategist for our business plan; I am just privileged to be his hands and feet in that action.

God is the supreme arbiter and reconciler of all relationships; I am just to listen to his wisdom and follow his lead.

And with this realization came a tremendous sense of peace. You see, it’s not my business, but God’s! God isn’t the owner of just the revenue and profit margin; he’s the owner of everything, including day-to-day operations and every decision!

The next time you’re facing decisions or planning strategies, ask God what he wants to do with HIS business and what your part is in carrying that out.

God doesn’t want to just be a safety net or redeemer of your endeavors, he wants to be at the helm from day one.

Have you given God the business?
