Dr. Adam McGuire Honored with UT System 2025 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award

Dr. Adam McGuire, an associate professor of psychology at The University of Texas at Tyler, has been named one of the 12 recipients of the prestigious UT System 2025 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award.

“The Board of Regents is proud to recognize these educators for their dedication to the core values of teaching excellence and student success,” said UT System Board of Regents Chairman Kevin P. Eltife. “We are truly grateful for the role they play in preparing and inspiring the next generation of Texas leaders and innovators.”

Since joining the faculty of the College of Education and Psychology in 2019, McGuire has been actively engaged in teaching advanced psychology courses. He also directs the clinical training for the university’s clinical psychology doctoral program and has been instrumental in providing exceptional research experiences and opportunities for UT Tyler doctoral students.

In addition to his teaching, McGuire holds a dual appointment as a research investigator with the Veterans Integrated Service Network 17 Center of Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans in Waco. Through this role, he recently obtained a $1.2 million merit award from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to begin a four-year clinical trial investigating PTSD and moral injury among Texas veterans.

Established in 2008, the Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Awards recognize faculty across the UT System who demonstrate excellence, innovation, creativity, and dedication in delivering the highest quality of instruction to students. Each recipient receives a certificate, a medallion, and a cash award in appreciation of their positive impact.

Dr. McGuire will be recognized by officials next week.
