Andy Woods Pre-K Students Experience Farm Life Up Close

Tyler, TX – It was boots, hats, and big smiles at Andy Woods Elementary as Pre-K students got to experience farm life up close during the school’s annual Farm Day celebration.

To wrap up their three-week farm unit, students traded the classroom for a hands-on learning adventure filled with furry friends, tractors, and plenty of fun. From brushing horses to shelling corn, little learners explored what life is like on a farm.

Students met some friendly faces, including Highland cows Piper and Paisley, pigs Maple and Pepper, horses Rojo and Tank, and chickens Sweetie, Hennifer, and Lucy. They also spun llama hair, dug for worms, and even climbed aboard both old-fashioned and modern tractors provided by United Ag & Turf.

“It’s wonderful to see the community come together to give our students a hands-on
look at these animals and equipment,” said Pre-K teacher Jana Slaughter. “After
learning about farm animals in the classroom, the students are thrilled to see them up
close and even get to pet and touch them.”

Farm Day has become a favorite tradition at Andy Woods Elementary, giving students
the chance to connect what they’ve learned in the classroom with the world around
them—while creating memories that will last a lifetime. This year’s event also featured
Rusted Water Farms, which introduced students to several new farm animals, making
this Farm Day one to remember.
