Michelle Gamboa was born in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and later immigrated to the United States with her family when she was just 7 years old.

She has been in the lap of leadership prior to arriving in Texas. Her grandfather was the Governor of the Lion’s Club in Mexico, and her grandmother was one of the founders  of school for the blind in Juarez, Mexico.

The adage you do not get a second chance to make a first impression rings true for Michelle. In her younger years, she witnessed firsthand acts of love and kindness to her family; and it made a deeper impression on her young mind. “Other pillars of the community helped my parents when I was young, and it left an indelible memory with me.”

Her journey includes going from being a permanent resident to a proud United States Citizen. “I did not know a lot about America, she said,” “So, I proceeded to learn as much as I could by loving my community – whether it is in church or in the volunteering my time where it serves the best, I made my myself available making sure that I become a critically engaged citizen.”

Michelle’s educational journey led her to graduate from Spring Hill ISD 2012 and Texas A&M University 2016, where she acquired the knowledge and skills to excel in her professional life. Receiving a bachelor’s in political science with a minor in Psychology.

As a successful businesswoman, Michelle currently holds the esteemed position of Director of operations for their  family-owned roofing company, ROOF CARE.

In addition to her professional achievements, Michelle has also made a significant impact in the realm of public service. She made history as the first Hispanic and youngest individual to serve on the Longview City Council, representing her district with utmost dedication and passion. Michelle’s tenure as a council member also marked the first time a woman had represented her district since the 1960s.

Michelle’s commitment to her community extends beyond the City Council. She actively serves on numerous community boards, including Longview Community Ministries, The Longview Chamber of Commerce, and serves as council liaison for various commissions and boards. Her involvement is vast. She is also in the Junior League of Longview where she has served as chair of admissions, Provisionals,  Fund Development, Assistant treasurer and more.

To date she is thankful to have been able to represent foster children through Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).

Additionally, Michelle started the Legislative Advocacy Team with East Texas Casa and served as vice chair. She further showcases her dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of others and serves as a Rotarian at Longview Greggton Rotary.

She has proudly been a board member of the Longview Museum of Fine Arts, Longview Arboretum and Nature Center, Windridge Therapeutic Equestrian Center, & many more. But wait, that is not all.

In the realm of beauty pageantry, Michelle has garnered recognition and accolades. She achieved the remarkable feat of being the first runner-up at the United States of America’s Miss Texas pageant. Currently, Michelle holds the title of reigning USOS MS. Michelle is actively competing to become United States of America’s MS in July. Her previous titles include USOA MISS Longview 2023, Miss Longview Latina 2020, and Miss Networking Latina 2020.

In 2023, Michelle was honored as the recipient of the First Queen Esther Award at Perlas and Tiaras, as well as the Hispanic Excellence Award.

Michelle’s contributions to her community have not gone unnoticed. She has received several prestigious awards and recognitions for her outstanding service. Among them are the East Texas CASA Purple Heart Award 2020 for Child Advocacy, the Texas A&M Political Science Former Student Spotlight in 2019 and being nominated for the Texas A&M 12 under 12 in 2019.

Michelle was also named a Top 3 Finalist for the 40 Under 40 Philanthropist/Nonprofit award in 2021. She was nominated and made top 3 in 3 categories, several years running. She won The 40 Under 40 City Official Award in 2022 & 2023.

These accolades serve as a testament to Michelle Gamboa’s unwavering dedication and hard work.

According to Michelle, her parents taught her that in order to live a good life, you have to live an honorable life.

Mentoring young people is paramount for Michelle. She wants to mentor the younger generation so they can become all they are created to be.

For Michelle, life is about loving according to our Lord and Savior Jesus and that translates loving others in your community with the three Ts – your Time, Talents, and Treasures.
